WE CELEBRATE YOU

WE BELIEVE THAT THE PRIMARY REASON WE LIVE
IS TO KNOW AND BE KNOWN BY GOD

We celebrate the decision you have made to put your faith in Jesus
and want to help you take your next steps

BEING BROUGHT CLOSE

We whole heartedly believe that God wants you to experience life and life to the full. (John 10:10)

It’s the reason that when we were far from him, he sent his son (John 3:16), to show us what Abundant Life looks like ( John 14:6) that he died for our sin on the cross(Romans 5:8)and rose from the grave (Luke 24:6-7), to bring us close to God (Romans 8:1).

Here’s some things to help you go deeper, and step into growth.

1. READ THE BIBLE

“From page one to the final word, we believe the Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus. This diverse collection of ancient books overflows with wisdom for our modern world. As we let the biblical story speak for itself, we believe the message of Jesus will transform individuals and entire communities.”

– The Bible Project

We believe in the authority and reliability of the bible. So we believe it is critical to read regularly, and learn.

Here are some things to help you get started.

WHERE TO GET A BIBLE

If you have a bible lying around your house, thats a great place to start.
If you don't have a bible - you can grab a free one at any service at Nova Church.
You can also find them in most bookstores, or online - we recommend the NLT translation for it's ease of reading.

You can also download the bible app on your phone.

STARTING TO READ

If you are looking to just jump in -
We recommend starting in the book of Mark. It's towards the back of your bible in the New Testament, and it is an account of the life and ministry of Jesus, revealing his invitation to follow him.

We believe in the authority and reliability of the bible. So we believe it is critical to read regularly, and learn.

We also know it can at times feel confusing or overwhelming. One of the best things you can do when you place your faith in Jesus is to read the bible, and we want to help you do that with understanding and confidence.
We have some resource for you to be able to do this

USING SOAP

Soap is a simple and effective journaling method to help you engage with what God is speaking through Scripture.
Start by praying for God to speak to you through his word. Then as you read your passage of scripture journal the following.

SCRIPTURE
what verse or few verses stood out to you from your reading?

OBSERVATION
What do you see / stands out to you about the verse you are reading?

APPLICATION
How can you apply that to your life today?

PRAYER
Ask God to help you in living out that application.

2. PRAY

“The best bit of advice I ever received about how to pray was this: keep it simple, keep it real, keep it up.”
― Pete Greig (Author: How to Pray)

We believe that prayer is an essential part of the life of Jesus, and the life of someone following Jesus (thats you!). We believe in the power of prayer, as we have faith in a personal God, who is powerful. We believe that you can always pray to God and he hears you, but we also believe that you are not alone, and God has given you a community of people to help support you and pray for you.

If you need prayer you can submit a prayer request and our team will continually pray for you

LEARN ABOUT PRAYER

Prayer is as simple as communicating with God.

We get how that can feel strange.
We have done a series at Nova to teach on prayer and it's a great resource to learn from.

3. ENGAGE WITH COMMUNITY

God designed us to walk our faith out with other people.

This is why we gather as a church.

Right from the outset of creation, God made us to be in community. In fact, while God is making and creating in the book of Genesis, he always “see’s that it is good.”, but when he see’s Adam alone it is the first time that he see’s that something is “not good.”

You are not made to do life and faith alone.

Here are some great ways to connect with community

MAKE CHURCH A PRIORITY

Modelled from the earliest records of the Church, gathering together has been a central priority. It is a weekly discipline to come together as a community and re-align our hearts and minds to the reality of who God is and what he has done, and what he is calling us to.

It is a time to build up, challenge, and encourage one another, to celebrate what God has done in our community, and to believe for what he is doing next.

It provides a critical foundation for walking out and growing in our decision to follow Jesus.

We invite you to make Church a weekly part of your life whenever possible.

Every April and May we have to get a little creative with where, and when we meet as a church. This year we are making it more simple than ever. Download "The Venue Menu" to make sure you are in the right place at the right time.

ASK QUESTIONS

We believe that God created the world, loved the world, saved the world, and is coming back to remove sin and death forever.

There is a lot in there.

If you feel like you have tons of questions, thats great. We believe that Jesus is actually the only source of wisdom, knowledge and authority that responds to our deep longings and questions with robust and satisfying answers.

Jesus loved asking and answering questions, and we believe that he still does today.

A great place to discover and asks questions is Alpha.

Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and informal environment. Alpha will be running Spring 2023 and we are taking sign ups now. To sign up for alpha, please fill out the form here

FIND A SMALL GROUP

Doing life together can be a bit of a cliche term - but man is it accurate.

The more that you journey into faith in Jesus the more you discover the deep need for people who know you. People who you can be vunerable with, and love you anyway. People who pray with you and for you. People who celebrate wins in your life like they are their own. Your people that you share life with.

We believe thats actually what God calls us into as believers. A great way to find this kind of community is to plug into a small group, and to make it a priority to commit.

Nova groups are what we call these small groups, and they take on a variety of looks, nights of the week, times of day and demographics. You can find a Nova group by clicking the button below.
